To promote in-school detention rather than suspension for your students, Yuba-Sutter Stand for the Silent provides FREE effective disciplinary activities that promote empathy, self-reflection, honesty and remorse so that positive lasting and restorative behavioral changes can be made.

The activities provided in this packet have been generously shared with us by other local school administrators and counselors across the United States who have utilized these tools with successful results.

Additionally, The Southern Poverty Law Center, as part of their Teaching Tolerance campaign, has created a unique lesson plan with the objective to help students “synthesize ideas to celebrate diversity and prevent bullying.”

Speak Up at School  Many of the questions we receive for our magazine column “Ask Teaching Tolerance” are from educators seeking advice about how to respond when someone-a student, a colleague, even a parent-uses biased language or stereotypes in school. This guide is our response.
